Approved in Principle (AIP) Letter
Dear Mr Ross:
Our decision on your application
I am pleased to tell you that we have approved in principle your application for a New Zealand residence visa.
When will we issue your residence visa?
We will issue your residence visa when you have met the requirements set out in the following paragraphs.
Passport(s)
Unless we already hold them, please send us valid passports or travel documents for all applicants so that we can endorse them with residence visas.
Fees
You need to pay a total migrant levy of £405. The migrant levy is a one-off payment of £115for each applicant over five and £60 for each applicant under five. It is used for: teaching English as a second language in primary and secondary schools research into the outcomes of immigration.
Please send your passport(s) and fees by 24 May 2009
You must send your passport and fees by this date. Immigration New Zealand may decline your application if you do not meet these requirements. Please contact us if you cannot meet these requirements in time.
Your residence permit
You will be granted a residence permit when you arrive in New Zealand.
Your residence permit allows you to live, work, and study in New Zealand. The permit expires if you leave New Zealand.
You will also be issued with your first returning resident’s visa so that you can be granted another residence permit if you leave New Zealand and return while the visa is still valid.
Your first returning resident’s visa will be valid for two years from the date of your initial resident’s permit. After these first two years, you will need to apply for another returning resident’s visa if you are planning to travel outside New Zealand in the future.
We will send you a copy of Immigration New Zealand’s Guide for Returning Resident’s Visas (NZIS 1005) when we return your permit and passport. You can also find information about returning resident’s visas on our website www.immigration.govt.nz.
